Scotts Valley Host Lions
The Scotts Valley Host
Lions Club members volunteer their time to perform a variety of community
service activities. The Scotts Valley Lions club was established in
1969 with 30 members and was sponsored by the East Santa Cruz Lions
Club. The Scotts Valley Lions currently averages 50 members, making
it one of the largest clubs in the 4-C6 district. We invite women and
men of all ages to join the Scotts Valley Host Lions Club. The Scotts
Valley Host Lions Club is one of more than 44,600 clubs compromising
Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club organization.
Our
Mission
The
official motto of the association is simply "We
Serve". What better way to explain our mission?
The
main philanthropy of Lions worldwide is the aid to sight and hearing
conservation programs. In keeping with the International objective,
the Scotts Valley Host Lions raise funds from throughout
the community. Individual members contribute their time in order
to assist the blind and hearing impaired in the following ways:
 |
Lions
Eye Foundation. The Foundation provides free eye examinations and
eye surgery to individuals who cannot afford the cost. |
 |
A.J.
Robinson Mobile Screening Unit, which provides eye, hearing, and
diabetes testings. Our Lions Club provides testing on the Screening
Unit at city wide events. |
 |
Ear
of the Lion, which provides hearing tests and hearing aids to those
individuals who cannot otherwise afford the treatment. |
 |
Direct
financial support is given in the form of free local eye exams and
free prescription glasses for those children whose parents cannot
afford to pay for them. |
The
Scotts Valley Host Lions Club is very involved in supporting local community
groups. Listed below are just a few of the groups we help. Click

The
Purpose of a Lions Club is to determine community needs and develop
a means of meeting them, either through its own efforts or in cooperation
with other agencies. During the last fiscal year, Lions Clubs completed
multiple thousands of separate, worthy humanitarian and community activities.
At the same time, Lions Clubs provide good fellowship and club social
life for their members. A Lions Club is a great place to meet new friends
or continue friendships with old friends. Come and join us for a Tuesday morning/evening meeting.
