Scotts
Valley Lions White Cane Days
October 4 - 6th,
the Lions Clubs International will hold our annual "White Cane
Days". This is the one time a year when local Lions go out to the
community to ask for donations to help fund eye care and services for
the visually impaired in the local community.
Monies raised from
the sale of the White Canes, or from donations go to eye exams for those
in need in the community and to help support the Lions Blind Center
and Lions Eye Foundation.
When you see the
Lions with their white canes, please give them a donation. The money
you give directly benefits those with eyesight problems here in Santa
Cruz County.
If
you would like to donate to White Cane Days, please send a check payable
to:
Scotts
Valley Host Lions Club
P.O. Box 66602
Scotts Valley, CA 95067
WHERE
DOES THE MONEY GO?
- The largest portion
of the money we collect from White Cane donations goes to help the
San Jose Blind Center to provide services, training and support for
blind and sight impaired people throughout the county.
- We also support
the Lions Eye Foundation of Northern California, who provides medical
treatment, surgeries, low vision aids and more to people in need throughout
Northern California. As a member in the Eye Foundation, the Scotts
Valley Host Lions also refer local patients to them for surgeries
or procedures at Pacific Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco.
- The Scotts Valley
Host Lions provide eye examinations, glasses or vision aids for those
in need in Santa Cruz County.
- Funds from White
Canes goes to Books Aloud to provide materials for those who can not
see the printed page.
The overhead costs
for White Cane Days is paid by the Scotts Valley Host Lions. 100% of
the funds raised are used for vision related needs.
